Updating and Refreshing Content for AI and SEO

Updated this week

Why Fresh Content Matters

Search engines favour content that is accurate and up to date. Approximately 70% of pages cited by AI-powered search tools (like AI Overviews in Google Search) were published within the last 10 months. Keeping your Psyke pages fresh is one of the most effective ways to maintain and grow your search rankings.

When to Update Your Pages

  • Every 3–6 months as a routine review.

  • When industry statistics or facts change.

  • When your product, pricing, or services change.

  • When you notice a drop in rankings or traffic for a page.

  • When a competitor publishes a more comprehensive page on the same topic.

How to Review Aging Pages

  1. In your Psyke dashboard, open a campaign and go to the Analytics tab.

  2. Sort pages by ranking or impressions to identify which ones are declining.

  3. Cross-reference with Google Search Console to see keyword position trends over time.

What to Update

  • Statistics and data – Replace outdated numbers with the latest figures from reputable sources.

  • Keywords – Use your Psyke keyword planner to identify new related keywords and work them into the content.

  • Examples and case studies – Add recent, relevant examples that readers will recognise.

  • Internal links – Link to any new Psyke pages you have published on related topics.

  • Meta title and description – Refresh these if the page's focus has evolved.

Republishing After Updates

After making edits in the Psyke editor, click Publish to push the updated version live. Google will typically re-crawl updated pages within a few days. You can also request re-indexing via the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to speed this up.

Maintaining Visibility in AI Overviews

AI search tools like Google's AI Overview draw from pages they consider authoritative and recent. To stay visible:

  • Ensure your content directly answers the questions users are asking.

  • Keep your pages structured clearly with headings that reflect common search queries.

  • Refresh content regularly so it does not go stale.
